CellMark Ingredients New Product Series – Guayusa Tea

Leading up to Natural Products Expo West and SCIFTS, we will be introducing some of our innovative new products. The fourth ingredient we will introduce is Guayusa tea and extracts.

Guayusa (GWHY–YOU-SA) is a native tree leaf that has been brewed like tea by the indigenous Kichwa people in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. For centuries, the Kichwa people have used Guayusa for its sustained source of energy. Kichwa legend says that jaguar energy comes through brewed Guayusa to protect them from the dangers of the rainforest. What separates Guayusa from other teas is that it has a higher caffeine content than any other tea and the same caffeine content as instant coffee, but without jitters. Another key characteristic that sets Guayusa apart is that it has no tannins, so it lacks the astringent, bitter taste sometimes associated with green and black teas. This allows for a smooth taste without the need to be masked by sugar. Our Guayusa is sustainably sourced from local farmers in Ecuador and is USDA certified organic.
