A NEW DAY WITH Amanda Colombini

BACK TO Milano

Milano is the biggest industrial city in Italy with many different industrial sectors. It is a magnetic point for designers, artists, photographers and models. If someone asked me to describe Milano in only one word I would choose between “glamorous” and “fashionable”. The city centre of Milano has a lot of interesting monuments and buildings, especially our Cathedral “Duomo”, one of the largest churches in the world.

To reach the office every day I drive through this big city, filled with so many buildings, skyscrapers, traffic and smog. But when I go back home at night I am greeted by nature, trees, gardens and small villas. Just going for a walk or looking out of my window in this peaceful ambience gives me energy and helps me to think brighter.

A former boss of mine once taught me something that I will never forget: Look at each day as a new opportunity to be your very best. Set high goals, be honest, never say no, and work with people who share your passion for doing their best.

I have two kids, a girl and a boy. They are wise but still so innocent, still believing that everything is possible because they can only see the beauty of things. They are not yet completely aware of things like diseases, money issues and the problems of the adult life. What’s most important to me is that they trust me and always give me their honest opinion. They really inspire me.

At the office I like to decorate and personalize my workplace with things like family photos, fun objects and bright colors. My colleagues and I share a common interest for photography and are very lucky to have a beautiful skyline and many interesting new buildings in the area. For instance the Palazzo Lombardia where you get an amazing view of Milano from the 39th floor, and of course the Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) which consists of two residential towers with trees on their facades. The Bosco Verticale was awarded “Best tall building worldwide” in 2015. So we have lots of subjects to photograph and often do so. We recently decided to have a contest where the most beautiful picture that any of us takes will be chosen to decorate our Milano office.
