PaperSeed Day – Our Day to Give Back

Each year, CellMark gives all of its employees a paid half day to volunteer with local non-profit organizations. In CellMark’s larger offices, these initiatives are led by PaperSeed Local committees. These are groups of CellMark employees who volunteer their time to bring their offices together to do charitable activities.

Our presence in the community and dedication to giving back is aligned with our Guiding Principles and reflect our responsibilities for the communities and the environment in which we operate.

In addition to giving back to our communities, we note that days like these help us get to know our co-workers better, and are an important part of CellMark’s unique company culture.

Here are some of the activities that came out of PaperSeed Day’s global participation this year:

PaperSeed Day Activities

PaperSeed Connecticut, including the Norwalk, Shelton, and Bridgeport offices, teamed up with Groundwork Bridgeport during National Volunteer Week in April. Over two different volunteer days, employees from these three offices worked with the Groundwork Bridgeport team and youth volunteers to dig up weeds, build raised beds, mulch, prune, and beautify community green spaces.

PaperSeed Gothenburg engaged in a total of nine of volunteer activities, including a fika fundraiser, donation drive, several initiatives helping out local charities with cleaning, maintenance, and beautification, and a charity run!

PaperSeed Novato spent another year helping to fix up the Fairfax San Anselmo Children’s Center’s gardens. The Fairfax-San Anselmo Children’s Center provides free childcare to low-income families in Marin; all produce grown in their garden is prepared for the kids as part of healthy meals provided daily.

PaperSeed Japan held a BBQ fundraiser and raised $400, which they plan to donate to a local NGO- KIDS’DOOR, an organization that supports financially disadvantaged junior high school students by providing free tutors to help prepare them for high school entrance exams.

The Stockholm Office (not officially a PaperSeed Local team yet) helped a local organization, TryggaBarnen, to send out information sheets to 370 schools in the Stockholm area. TryggaBarnen supports children whose parents struggle with substance and mental health issues.

Though activities varied from place to place, the spirit remained the same: CellMark employees love to give back.
