Donation by CellMark Cares makes a difference for underage refugees in Germany
CellMark Cares, the charity unit of CellMark, continues to make a difference for people worldwide. We encourage our employees to care and stay engaged by nominating non-profit organizations close to their hearts to which CellMark Cares can give financial support.
And so did Sabine Borgstädt, Vice President Finance Manager at CellMark Basic Materials. Sabine knew Kaiserswerther Diakonie, a social, welfare, and healthcare nonprofit organization in Germany and she had informed herself about their various projects, of which one of them was the Liddy Dörr Haus.
The Liddy Dörr Haus takes care of underage refugees from different parts of the world and gives them protection, care, and a temporary home in Germany. This topic was particularly close to Sabine’s heart, and therefore, she nominated Kaiserswerther Diakonie.
“It’s great that there are so many lovely people in the Liddy Dörr House who take care of the young people and help them find their way in their new lives. Every year, we employees are allowed to propose projects from the communities in which CellMark is represented. We will only find out which projects will be selected and how much the donations will be when we receive confirmation from CellMark Cares from the USA. Here in Düsseldorf, the surprise was big and we were very happy to be able to support the Liddy Dörr House”, Sabine says.
Recently, CellMark received a heartfelt thank you from Dr. Holger Stiller, Christine Taylor, and Prof. Dr. Maximilian Werkmüller on behalf of the Board of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie:
“We are very happy that CellMark is supporting the work of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie with your extremely generous donation of $15,000. The amount goes to the Liddy Dörr House, our contact point for underage, unaccompanied young refugees who have come to Germany alone and without their families. Your gift will help these young people find safety and a new beginning in life. In addition, it conveys to our committed employees how much their work is valued.”
